MGMT announce new album, “Loss of Life,” and release first single, “Mother Nature”
The band's first album in five years is due in February 2024

Earlier last month on the duo’s subreddit page, there was a lot of speculation about highly anticipated new music from MGMT. Andrew VanWyngarden posted a photo of a test pressing , accompanied by a banana and the text “elf of soils.” Redditors speculated it was an anagram of the title of a new album, possibly Loss of Life, based on two earlier posts by VanWyngarden. Turns out they were right.
The band’s follow up to Little Dark Age will be their fifth full-length album titled, Loss of Life and arrives on February 23. The first single “Mother Nature” is way more laid back than the dancy psychedelic music that put MGMT on the map. Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser said in a statement the song, “outlines the archetypical MGMT mythology of one hero attempting to get the other hero to come on the journey that they ‘must’ go on. One part sounds like Oasis.”
