Nirvana finally hits 1 billion views on YouTube

Nirvana’s iconic video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” finally hits 1 billion views on YouTube!  This is only the second music video from the ’90s to do so.  “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was the first single released from Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind and the music video has only been on YouTube since 2009.  It took a decade to get to 1 billion views, but this song and video definitely helped change the face of rock music.  After years of hair bands taking over on MTV, it was time for grunge and alternative rock.  An anthem for a whole generation.  “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is now the second most viewed music video from the ’90s and the sixth most viewed rock video in the 2010s.  Congrats Nirvana!
